Study and hands-on workshop on music recommender systems at a school

Robin Ungruh and Christine Bauer presenting at school.

I am very happy to welcome Robin Ungruh as a visiting researcher to our group in July 2026. We are delighted to host Robin in Salzburg and gratefully acknowledge the support of the Scientist-in-Residence program by Stadt Salzburg.

On Robin’s very first day in Salzburg, we swapped the office for a schoolroom. We conducted a study with children at a local school, introducing how recommender systems work and exploring how school kids react to music recommendations.

It was great fun—and we were impressed by how much the school kids already knew and by their eagerness to learn more and share examples.

Many thanks to our collaborators and facilitators helping us run the study: Klara, Florian, Simon, Andreas, and Robin.

We are now analyzing feedback and are curious about the results.
