Music Information Retrieval

I feel very honored to give a keynote address at ISMIR 2023. I will address the multifaceted needs of stakeholders who rely on the technologies revolving around music information retrieval (MIR). In particular, I will zoom in examples from music recommender systems and demonstrate the potential risks of neglecting artists’ needs—and provide strategies for mitigation.

What an honor that my recent work with Andrés Ferraro is featured as an example for research on Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at Utrecht University’s website. There is also a sneak peek to an upcoming work with Johanna Devaney.

I am glad that my summary of the ISMIR 2020 special session: ‘‘How do we—in MIR research—help artists? Do we?’’ made it to the December 2020 issue of the ACM SIGIR Forum.

I am happy to announce that I will be guiding one of the nine virtual sessions of the WiMIR workshop 2020 at ISMIR 2020. The title of my session is: The best ever recommendation & For who? And how do you know that?
